The Problem With Tree Huggers

Doofus strives to control and master all that comes his way, and accomplishes neither.

Sharpee achieves because he is increasingly aware of the limits to his own capacity.

Explanation: No one person has the skill or experience to manage or accomplish everything that comes his way. That's the problem with "tree huggers." When the tree is small, it is easy to wrap our arms around it and keep it close.  But as it grows, it becomes harder and harder to wrap around it. Eventually, we will no longer be able to keep it within our grasp. If you engage the help of others, the tree can again be circled. Live your life accordingly.

About Self-Centered Jerks

Doofus approaches networking as a thief to ask "What can you do for me?"

Sharpee approaches networking as a detective to ask "What can I do for you?"

Explanation: There is one thing that almost everyone hates --  and that is the selfish or self-centered person. Somewhere along the line, their brain never developed enough to understand that life is far more enjoyable, and productive, when you take the spotlight off yourself and focus it completely on the other person. People and businesses that rise to greatness focus primarily on the needs of the people they serve ... and they do it with a passion and excellence.

Pointing Lasers Or Flashights

Doofus emphasizes his availability, focusing on his broad appeal for a wide number of situations.

Sharpee emphasizes their rarity, focusing on genuine scarcity, uniqueness and exclusive infomation.

Explanation: When people explore options and see them as widely and easily available, the value of those options quickly drop down to a commodity level. An employee who says they can do anything, or a business who tries to be all things to all people, actually builds a perception of being widely available.  As a result, they demean themselves to a commodity level. But the Sharpee who distinguishes themselves as being scarce and valuable becomes a gem of almost priceless value. That's one reason lasers are so much more expensive than flashlights.
