Although every company might prefer not to have a competitor, the truth is that every brand is generally better off with some viable yin to their yang. Two complementary market forces often prosper from each other's presence. Without a strong competitor, brands easily get lazy and lose their edge. Good competitors help keep your brand well-tuned, focused, and honest. A healthy approach to competition gives you a chance to define and declare your brand position by what you stand for in contrast to a competitor. They keep you on your toes. Admire them for that. Your goal is simply to make sure they don't become overly dominant. Of course, they will have the same goal. Just be better at it than they are.
