You've probably been told to act as if you cannot fail. It implies that if you have enough confidence, then things will always work out. We've also been told to embrace failure because that's how we grow and improve. These are good insights, but there's another view you should consider. Think of our favorite action heroes. They don’t address failed situations solely with attitude. They respond to them with action. Superman is not successful because of his mindset. He turns perils into inspiration. He acts. Failure in itself is not the thing that destroys people. Failure to act is what destroys people. If you don't act, it means you are setting yourself up for coming failure, or letting yourself be overwhelmed by a failure. Setbacks in life are inevitable. It’s what you do next that matters.
